The Red Elephant educates women about menstruation, engages them by providing the materials and teaching them how to make reusable sanitary pads, and empowers them to be change leaders in their communities.
Our projects serve a physical need in the community by providing girls and women with much-needed sanitary menstrual hygiene products.
Materials used in the creation of the reusable sanitary pads are locally sourced wherever possible, which stimulates the local economy.
The pads can be sold by the individuals/groups making them, which can act as an income generator for entrepreneurs.
The dialogue surrounding these projects helps reduce the stigma associated with menstruation.
